So many people spend their time wishing they were getting in shape and fit, but wishing it and doing it are 2 completely different things. For some people trying to get fit and healthy can be a daunting prospect. With a few little tips and helpful hints, you won’t have to put pressure on yourself and hopefully start your fitness journey the right way to make it sustainable and a long term lifestyle change.

1. Start small
Don’t go starting your new life regime by jumping into a 2 hours gruelling workout that will leave you walking like John Wayne in a western. Aim for a 30-minute workout that is doable.

2. Plan your workout and track your workout
Make sure you set out your workout plan for the day in advance. That leaves you with no doubt of what you need to do for that session – write it down. Writing your workouts out also gives you a record of what you’ve done and see your improvements and progressions. There are a good few apps out now that track your workouts, like https://www.myfitnesspal.com/, https://www.strava.com/, and there’s many more to choose from. Or even a good old fashioned notebook or fitness diary will do the trick as well.

3. Make time to exercise
It is so important that when you are starting your fitness overhaul and healthy lifestyle you prioritise and make space in your diary to workout. Set aside 30 minutes or an hour, if you can, to train. Make sure nothing takes its spot, once it’s in your diary, treat it like an appointment that cannot be missed.

4. Phone a friend
If you can find a fitness partner to train with you, you are more likely to keep this new your routine going. By having one or 2 fitness buddies to workout out with you will keep motivated in your sessions and less likely to skip a training day.

5. Don’t beat yourself up
If you do happen to miss a training session, don’t beat yourself up about it. Brush yourself off and get straight back into the groove. Mindset plays a massive part in creating a healthy environment.

6. Seek advice
If you are a complete novice at any form of exercise, then you are probably better off at consulting with a fitness professional to make sure you are doing things correct. Even if you are not going to the gym, its always a great idea to get some advice.

Your journey might have a hiccup here or there but it is important to get straight back in action and not to get the better of you. A bit of frequency in training and making sure it quality time well spent by doing thing right, will definitely put you on the path to fitness and health success.

Get ready to feel yourself getting fitter and have more energy – you might actually enjoy it.
